San Francisco, California

Renovation and seismic upgrade of the 1908 historic landmark building. The building is a 60,000-square-foot steel-frame structure with cast-in-place concrete shear walls. Work included addition of new reinforced concrete shear walls and foundations, construction of new lobby and exit facility spaces, seismic bracing of the existing ornate plaster ceiling and unreinforced brick façade. Scope of work also included demolition and reconstruction of a 10,000-square-foot rehearsal wing while preserving the existing brick façade.

Marin Civic Center
San Rafael, California

Seismic retrofit of the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed building constructed in the 1960s. It is the last and one of the most important works by this internationally acclaimed architect, who has been described as "one of the most creative architectural geniuses of all time" and "the most original architect the United States has ever produced." The long, horizontal building, which gracefully links the crowns of three separate hills in Marin County, is of architectural landmark status.
