The renovation and seismic upgrade of the 1908 historic landmark building is ongoing. The building is a 60,000-square-foot steel-frame structure with cast-in-place concrete shear walls. The work includes the addition of new reinforced concrete shear walls and foundations, construction of new lobby and exit facility spaces, seismic bracing of the existing ornate plaster ceiling, and reinforcement of the unreinforced brick façade. The scope of work also includes the demolition and reconstruction of a 10,000-square-foot rehearsal wing while preserving the existing brick façade.
